The Judge: Mrs Samantha Goulding (Vic)

My venture into the world of showing started at an early age firstly with showing horses and ponies from the age of 12.  Later breeding them with some success having both owned and handled champions and supreme champions at state and national level, as well as owning the runner up small pony of the year for 2 years running in NSW.  I started riding and showing for a pony stud in NSW who also bred Curly Coated Retrievers and hence my venture in dog showing began on the rare weekends we were not at a horse show.

I started in obedience training and trialing as a teenager with the family pet a Border Collie and the rest as they say is history. Totally hooked on this wonderful breed and breeding under the Cucriche prefix in NSW. I have continued with success in both the show ring and trial arenas having competed in obedience to UD level, agility, tracking and more recently herding.  Several of our dogs have also been the stars of Television and Advertising campaigns.

I now breed Border Collies in Victoria under the Etherial prefix with my husband and we have been extremely successful having bred and owned multiple Best In Show winners at both All Breeds and Specialty shows including breeding and handling the Best In Show winner of the first Border Collie National Show and many more with their championship and performance titles in all disciplines.

With an interest in all things “working dog” I have handled many breeds including Australian Shepherds in the working dog group with success to titles, royal show wins and BIS level. 

I joined the judges training scheme in Victoria and have held my open show licence for the working dog group since 2004. I would like to thank the club and the exhibitors for the opportunity to judge your 2007 Open show.
